Does Hip Hop Owe A Great Debt To DJ Kool Herc?

13 Aug

Another question is who owns the trademark name of Hip Hop? That’s the number one question a lot of people don’t have the answer to. Hip Hop was birthed on 8/11/1973, and its genre is widely credited to DJ Kool Herc who is deemed the father of it all. How did Hip Hop start and where did it come from?

DJ Kool Herc whose real name is (Clive Campbell) threw a back-to-school jam alongside his sister Cindy Campbell on Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx, NY. The rest is history as to how Hip Hop has shaped not only America but the entire world. Does Hip Hop owe a great debt to DJ Kool Herc?

It’s a no-brainer as to what needs to be done in order to compensate the architect of our culture. It’ll only acknowledge what many Hip Hop fans know to be true when that happens. Celebrating the birth of Hip Hop is more than super cool, but, paying a real tribute to Hip Hop’s founding father is even better.

Even better idea: There’s actually a way you can show your appreciation/love for Hip Hop culture by making a contribution to the DJ Kool Herc Foundation. It doesn’t matter if it’s a $20 dollar pledge or a buck, it makes you a contributor and an official member of the Hip Hop community. Click here, Spread Love.
