The Hip Hop community is mourning the passing of rap legend Earl Simmons better known for his rap name DMX. It was reported several days ago the 50-year old rapper was rushed to the hospital due to a drug overdose. The will-power of DMX is that of overcoming many obstacles in his life whether it be doing drugs, staying in and out of jail and his family life. So just like any strong warrior we’ve had the privilege of knowing through Hip Hop like your 2Pac’s and several others, we all expected DMX to pull through this one, but Mr Earl and God had other plans.
DMX has contributed six studio albums with other future projects in the works. The New York born native has racked up 19 films and appeared in over 15 TV shows. DMX left a mark on Hip Hop that cannot be duplicated. Artist like DMX only come through ever so often in a handful of acts that is not expected to last over 5-years.
I’m sending my prayers and condolences to the Simmons family and close friends of his. Though DMX has transitioned on with our Hip Hop ancestors he’ll forever go down as one of the most authentic, never bending, true to himself artist that ever contributed to Hip Hop.
