Brooklyn, NYC artist Joey Bada$$ is one of the brightest newest MC’s to come out of the east coast, and we can honestly say without hesitation he’s one of the handfuls of young rappers that’s carrying tradition, no doubt. During an interview with Genius, Joey talked about iconic artist such as the late 2pac Shakur influencing his rap career followed by a theory in which he claims he can beat Makaveli in a rap battle.
Now before you get all worked up 2pac lovers, Joey gave an explanation as to why he would flame the new Rock And Roll Hall Of Flame MC. His reason reads: “I believe I am one of the minds that ‘Pac said will spark to change the world. I’m not saying I’m gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world.”
In other words, Joey is saying that 2pac and other greats passed the torch to his generation, so it’ll make perfect sense for the future of Hip Hop culture to outshine the past. So let’s break this down with the infamous “IF FACTOR”. What if Makaveli was alive and in his 40’s and he heard young Joey make the claim that he can beat him in a rap battle, do you think 2pac would respond?
Our guess it that 2pac was terminating sneak disses on sight in his early 20s and all shots were lethal as hell. However, 2pac in his 40s would have had the same venom as he did in his 20s? That’s a toss-up question because there’s a lot of MC’s that survived the 90s rap era and wouldn’t respond to such as a younger rapper calling them out.
Another thing, Is Joey talking about battling 2pac without no beat in an arena say like (Smack URL)? Or is he saying he’ll smoke 2pac boots on wax?
