Ralph Macchio whose famously known for classic 1984 movie “The Karate Kid” joins Sway In The Morning to discuss new YouTube Red series “Cobra Kai” starring William Zabka. I had the chance to view the first two episodes on YouTube Red and I have to say it turned out to be both funny and entertaining. If you remember the original 80s version you’ll recall many funny moments throughout the film and it also had it’s drama where you were like “Kick His A** Daniel”.
However, you’d be surprised at how many fans of the movie actually rooted for the bully which was Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and this is how the series came about. What about the bad guy, huh?. Macchio explained to Sway that before the making of this 10-Part series that a lot of writers pitched material to him but it just didn’t make sense.
The 50-Year old actor gave praise to writers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg for being able to piece together something that doesn’t go back in time but delivers a modern day film infused with legendary actors in 2018.
Also, YouTube Red is offering a 30 Day Trial so that you can binge-watch all 10 episodes oppose to being limited two showings, and after that it’s $9.99 per month. Check out the synopsis for Cobra Kai below followed by the interview.
Synopsis: Thirty years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, Johnny Lawrence’s (William Zabka) life has taken a rocky turn as he tries to forget a past that constantly haunts him.
