Rare Breed Ent. delivered a classic battle between Murda Mook VS Aye Verb and I think we have a clear winner on our hands. In most battles where heavyweights are sparing, the reactions from battle-rap fans in person or on social media are mixed but that wasn’t the case this time around. Who do I give it to? Aye Verb 2-1 and here’s why: The last battle I witnessed between Verb and Twork showed me a side of the St. Louis native I’ve never seen before, well, maybe in the past, but I’m 100% sure this Verb that showed up to battle Mook is not the same person we’ve seen 10-years + ago.
Murda Mook did his thing in all three-rounds with his last round totaling 22-Minutes long. Quick Question: Do you know what kind of vocabulary one has to have in order to memorize all those rhymes? 22-minutes? That’s totally f***ing insane. If you were to ask me, I really don’t think Mook showed up fully prepared for this battle and you can argue he looked past Aye Verb as just a “Another One Bites The Dust” victim.
Does this take away from Murda Mook’s legacy in Battle Rap culture? Hell no, and you’d be smoking some good butter (cocaine rocks) to think otherwise. We all know Mook has built himself up to be one the highest paid battle rappers in the league and when you’re grossing that kind of money you can pretty much do whatever you want. That being said, will we see more battles from Murda Mook sooner rather than later?
I think Murda will remain the same despite of what people are saying. You don’t come this far in your career to let opinions devalue the worth, longevity, phenomenal skill set among other things that makes a superstar who they are, so yeah, in my opinion this 2-1 loss against Verb doesn’t change anything.
