Retired NBA player Gilbert Arenas suggest that there aren’t too many dark-skinned beautiful black women and even go as far as to say Model/actress Lupita Nyong’o is “Only Beautiful with the lights off”. Of course, you do know making such comments got him some guaranteed backlash from women who are offended by his choice of words. Here’s what we think though.
If Arenas is referring to dark-skinned girls in Hollywood not being pretty enough, well, there’s not enough images of dark-skinned black women shown. That being said, We’re pretty sure Gilbert Arenas has been around the world and have seen darker skinned girls that are absolutely gorgeous.

He didn’t stop there but he forgot to add the BEAUTIFUL Phyllis Stickney among other beautiful dark-skinned women that are in the spotlight. For the hell of it and for the sake of dark-skinned beauty, here’s a picture from Phyllis Stickney below.
When u say African features black then u have (#1 lupita nyong’o) and she’s cute when the lights are off second is (Ajuma nasenyana) sorry but ewww so the black beautiful women u try to boost up is technically light skinned or brown skinned.
Although he’s getting slammed for making distasteful comments, we think he’s just being totally honest and shedding a light on a subject that needs to be talked about often. He’s right, there are not enough dark-skinned women getting their just due, or work in Hollywood so people can see more than one or two dark-skinned actresses.
