West coast legend Eazy-E was more than just a street-gangster from the mean streets of Compton, C.A., he was a businessman who was responsible for putting one of the greatest rap groups together in N.W.A. Though Eazy didn’t see himself as a rapper as shown in the movie “Straight Outta Compton”, Dr. Dre. saw something totally different Eric Wright.
What did Dr. Dre see in him besides him being one hell of a hustler? Well, initially Dre wanted other artists to perform the song “Cruising Down The Street In My 64” but it didn’t work out too well. So why Eazy E? Clearly throughout Dre’s producing history he always reached out to an artist who had a special kind of voice about them, and Eazy-E was the best fit.
Our flashback Friday verse of the day comes from Eazy E’s “Only If You Want It”. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
“Can I get an eye open up Eazy locin’ up, Smokin’ up much dust like a nut what Give it up for the real stuff Shut the what up Back that shit up, what? Hustler from the hood ho Hopping in my trunk”
