Jail inmates in Chicago can now order Pizza? According to Fox 5 NY, this is currently a thing now. The move came from restaurant owner Chef Bruno Abate who decided to create program “Recipe For Change”, and it’s angle is to teach inmates how to make pizza so that if they choose they can have this skill under their belt once released into society. The program launched April 20th this year and have already sold 200 + pies.
Prices range from $5 to $7 per pie and the funding will go towards the program to expand it. There’s only one catch to this though; it’ll only benefit those with lesser charges, particularly the medium security part of Cook County detention center.
There’s no word as to whether this program will reduce inmates time or how much money their making to learn this skill, but this is the start of something prisons all over America can take into consideration.
