Congrats: Philadelphia Freeway Is Now Apart Of Jay Z’s Roc Nation Family!

9 Mar

Philadelphia Freeway whose real name is Leslie Edward Pridgen, is now signed to Jay Z’s Roc Nation label. The news broke just yesterday with a picture of the longtime collaborators inside of Roc Nation’s headquarters. Jay Z’s roster is steadily growing with signing veteran MC’s like The Lox, Jim Jones, Fat Joe, Rapsody, Yo Gotti, and that’s not even including the other artist Roc Nation currently manage. Let’s just say with the magnitude of talent that’s on this roster, the rap game should be prepared for what’s about to come.

Assuming you already know who Freeway is, he’s a dope MC from Philadelphia who use to battle while attending high school back in the early 90s. He met up with veteran MC Beanie Sigel who was impressed by his style of rap and put in a word to Jay Z to sign this up and coming artist to Roc-A-Fella Records.

Notable collaborations from Freeway and Jay Z is “What We Do Is Wrong” and “1-900-Hustler” which featured Beanie Sigel and Memphis Bleek. The two later collaborated on a laid back/ pimp type titled “Think It’s A Game”.

With Roc-A-Fella records being at the height of its success mid to late 90’s, tension broke out inside the camp and left artist like Freeway to wonder where do we go from here? Well, when you’re loyal to the soil and never speak ill on certain situations you quite don’t understand, music moguls like Jay Z would be more than glad to have a talent like Freeway on his roster.

Freeway is currently working on new music with his latest album “Freewill” on Itunes now. In his spare time, he’s making his rounds spreading awareness about Kidney Disease, something he was diagnosed with back in September of 2015.

“I had a routine physical with my primary care doctor. I gave blood one day and I went on the road for the weekend,” he says. “Then I came back and I was at home lying in bed and I got a call from my primary care physician who told me to get to the closest emergency room because my levels was off. My kidney functions was real low and everything was just out of wack. I didn’t know what it was. I was just in tears.”

We wish him well on his road to recovery and look forward to hearing his new projects when they come out. Check out a pic of Freeway and HOV below, and let us know what you think.
